Introduction
Good, beautiful day, beautiful, beautiful souls! This is Charla Anderson, host of the Charla Anderson Show~Collector & Connector of Fascinating People (& EVERYONE is Fascinating!), especially you.
Answering the call to write, podcast host, and my guest from the United Kingdom today is Meliza Farndell. And we’re going to share her journey from despair to shining her light and helping you do the same. She is amazing. Can’t wait to introduce you to Meliza.
…BUT FIRST…
We’re going to stop for 22 seconds and do a mini vacation. We’re going to take in breathing calm for seven seconds, hold for four seconds, and breathe out gratitude for 11 seconds. So will you join me in breathing in some calm? Here we go. Hold. Relax. Release. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
So excited to have Meliza with me today. This is, we’ve met again, I continue to have guests from my connection with Terri Lee Harrison of BRI Talks, a Christian speakers group. And this is no exception. I’ve met Meliza on there, and she is, she’s gone from, her story is going to just blow you away, the overcoming that she’s done and how that happened and what she’s doing now and how she can help you do it as well. So Meliza , thank you, thank you, thank you for joining me and you’re from the United Kingdom so it’s a little later over there than it is in Texas. Tell us who you are in this world and then we’ll talk a little bit about what you do and how you serve.
Awesome, thank you so much for having me, Charla. It’s been just wonderful connecting with you and all the beautiful people from BRI Talks. I live in the UK with my husband. We’ve been married for nearly 20 years, and I’m mom to two incredible teenagers. One is a young adult now, he’s 18, and my daughter is 15. So that is my biggest calling in life, looking after my beautiful family. But I write, I love writing and helping other people write and publish their books as well. So as a writer, my heart is really to help women, specifically those who are experiencing mental torment, to overcome and get untangled from the lies that keep them stuck and that keep them small.
And I love to see them find their purpose, their true identity and become everything that God has created them to be. And then as a mentor or coach, helping other people share their stories, my heart is to help people get clear, get confident in sharing their messages, and helping them connect to the people who need their stories. So those are the two things that I’m really passionate about, apart from my family.
Well, I know you mentioned Untangled, so the name of your book, Untangled. I love the story, we’ll talk about that, but what’s the name of the book? Yes, Untangled is, it’s called Untangled. Oh, but the subheading or whatever. Oh, break free from the lies that keep you from your true identity and purpose. Break free from the lies, get untangled. And I really like that a lot. And if I’m not mistaken, you are in a lot of despair, you know, this awful, just that depth of despair that you can’t really shake on your own because often, because there’s, you know, in our world, this isn’t about religion, it’s just we are faith-based people and it just shows. And so you were, you know, we believe that there’s an evil entity that wants to keep us in despair and broken, so entangled. So tell me a little bit about that. Where did the untangled come from, because I think that’s a very fun story when you were, well, not all of it’s fun.
No, the first 30 years were an absolute torture in my life. So, it’s so true what you say, Charla, is there is what the Bible says is an enemy that comes to kill, steal, and destroy. And the only thing you can really take away from you is your identity. And I find that his assault on our hearts starts at an early age. We start believing lies about ourselves from a very, very young age. So for me, that happened when I was seven. That was when the first major lie came in through a traumatic experience. And I didn’t know how to deal with the guilt and the shame that was ushered into my heart. So it started to affect my whole entire being. I had such a problem with body image, a lot of problems with self-worth. depression, eating disorders, all sorts of stuff. But the worst part of it was the mental torment.
And I had tried literally everything to try and fix what was wrong with me from the outside. I remember going on my first diet when I was 12 years old to getting gastric bypass surgery when I was only 16. I tried every weight loss remedy, I tried therapy, I tried hypnosis, all the modalities that you can possibly think of to just get peace in my life. I was just constantly, constantly struggling in my mind. But I knew deep down that God was the answer. So I was on a mission to find him. I grew up as a pastor’s kid, so I knew my Bible pretty well. I went to church. I even went to Bible school when I was in my early 20s because I was desperate for transformation, but I found that I only had information. Like I knew my Bible backwards and forwards. I could quote it, but I didn’t have that one thing which was just peace in my mind. So it got to a point when my daughter was born in 2010, I said to my husband, I give up. I give up. I don’t believe that God loves me. I have tried everything to reach him.
I will always believe that he exists because I’ve experienced enough to know God is real, but I don’t believe that he loves me or if he knows even about my struggle that I’m going through. And my husband just nodded and smiled and he, you know, he was very wise and he just stayed quiet because it was a lot to process. But a few days later I was putting my daughter down for a nap and he said, why don’t you take Aidan, my son, he was just three at the time, why don’t you take him to go and see the new Disney movie, which was Tangled, the Disney movie about Rapunzel. So I took him and I walked into that cinema and immediately I could feel the presence of God. Almost tangibly, I just felt that there was something in that cinema. I started to feel really overwhelmed with emotion. And as that movie started from the opening scene, I could relate to Rapunzel’s story.
She sang a song called “When Will My Life Begin?” See, she was so busy doing all the things in her little tower, but she never really experienced true freedom. And she knew that there was more because she could see those lanterns on the horizon every year on her birthday. She knew there was something more. And it was actually her father’s celebration of her. The king celebrated her. The whole kingdom participated in the celebration of her. And it was those lanterns that were calling her outside of her tower, and she went on this adventure, and she discovered that there’s a whole life that she was created for, that she was not intended to be in this tower of limitation. So as I’m watching her story unfold, things start to click into place for me. So I’ve had years of theology and now suddenly all of it makes sense because I can see that I had an enemy, a Mother Gothel in my life that was feeding me lies, like lies I believed that kept me safe in my tower or I thought I was safe in my tower. But the thing that really, really broke the stronghold in my heart was seeing the face of the King. as he lit that lantern for his daughter on her birthday. And I experienced the love of God for the very first time in my life.
And that was the missing piece, because we can have a lot of knowledge. But Ephesians 3 talks about an experiential knowledge of the love of God that activates our faith. So that was life-changing for me, and that’s what started my process of becoming untangled, because it wasn’t an instant fix. It was a journey of choosing to leave that tower of limitation and limiting beliefs and starting to walk in my true identity and purpose.
I heard you tell that story on the BRI Talks. A little bit ago, and then, you said the tear going down the king’s face just broke something in you, and you related it now. Walking into a theatre is not normally where most people are going to feel the presence of god. There’s a lot of other things happening in those theaters and and so you were called there, you were called, he was calling you there, you were led there, and through your husband even, and get your life transformed through a Disney movie that many of us have seen, it did not have the same impact on most people, right? It was a message that you received right then, right there, and then recognized, you know, really recognizing it and what a gift it was for your first of all, for your children to have their mommy feel love because you can’t love others if you don’t love yourself. And so that’s a huge thing.
And you know, when I say a theatre and movies, you know, in the Bible, God used a donkey to wake somebody up. So a talking donkey to wake somebody up, right? So you know, the tool doesn’t matter, this, you know, the source does not matter, of how you get that transformation, but that I just thought that was such a true, wonderful story and then because the movie was called Tangled, your book is untangled. You’ve been able to unravel, untangle the the lies and and now you’re very gifted at helping other people do that. And you’ve got your podcast called that, I think you said it’s kind of on hold right now, but it’s well, your mission is helping others tell their stories, answering the call to write. Is that it? Is that it? Yes, that’s it. That’s okay and You know, I just and you want your quote your favorite quote that you you shared with me is you are not just tolerated by God you are celebrated by him and we create our own we focus everything so inward on what’s wrong that we don’t experience what’s good and what’s right.
So when we’re focused so inward, we don’t necessarily, it’s really hard if you’re not careful to break free of that. And there are a lot of ways, a lot of tools, and I just feel for your childhood pain that I do believe the vast, vast majority of us have experienced. that moment in our lives, which, you know, then we start building these layers, right, these layers of protection. And sometimes it’s weight, sometimes it’s, you know, whatever it is that we build again. And to protect ourselves, I will never let that happen to me again. I’ll never be belittled like that again, or I’ll never be humiliated like that again, or hurt. Whatever it is that happened to us, I do believe I’m going to I would say I venture to say every single person has that at some point in their young life, five, seven, you know, yeah.

Yeah, in my book Untangled, I actually give a snapshot of just some significant moments and actually some insignificant moments that left a lie on my heart. You know, it could be just a random comment that someone says and you don’t realize where it lands in someone else’s heart. And that becomes a lie that keeps them tangled up in limitation. But you were right. We are all experiencing that, which is why it is so important to have a daily appointment with that father, that king, oh my goodness. Every time I talk about him I get so emotional because we need to be loved by God. That’s how we get untangled. We have to put ourselves in that place just on his lap, letting him talk to us about our identity and purpose, letting him tell us who we really are. That is the only way to get untangled. And you know, when I started writing my book, my goodness, I really realized how many lies are still tangling my heart. Like I struggled with imposter syndrome. I struggled with just fear of man and what are people going to think and is this going to be good enough? so it just revealed a whole bunch of other stuff that was still in my heart and it was amazing because as I was worshiping one morning in church, and I’m wrestling with all this stuff in my heart.
I got a vision of myself as a little girl lying before Jesus making paper crowns and And I was making these elaborate crowns. I was putting glitter on them and feathers and fake gems and crayons. And I would hand them to Jesus. And he was delighting in these crowns. He was so happy. He put it on his head. He was smiling. It was just amazing. I couldn’t make them fast enough. I just wanted to make another one and another one. And I knew that he was saying to me, ‘This is what I’m doing.’ I’m worshipping him. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Nobody needs to love my book. He loves my book. He loves my message and he loves that I’m just there on the floor like a little kid enjoying myself. But then I saw him hand these crowns to the father and the father was sending them out like lanterns, just like the movie Tangled. And these books, these stories, these messages was reaching people who are sitting in their towers, noticing that there was something more for them. These lights were calling them out of their limiting beliefs and into the arms of their father. So I knew God was calling me to help other people share their stories as well.
What I love so much about that movie, Tangled, is that everybody in the kingdom participated in that celebration. So the king never stopped celebrating his daughter. Never. Every year on her birthday, they would send all of these lanterns into the sky. But everybody had a little light. And those lights created this amazing sky phenomenon that she noticed from her tower. And that is what called her back. So I love discovering the light in someone else’s story and helping them make their paper crowns. That’s why I do what I do, because I truly believe that there are so many people sitting in the pit of despair that just needs that little light, that little hope, that little beckoning to say, come out. This is where you belong. You belong in the kingdom. You belong in the space where there’s freedom and joy and peace. And you can be who you are like a little child just enjoying life with your Heavenly Father.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful story. Oh my goodness. It gives me chills. Yeah, so do you have an example? I wanted to go back to some of the actual lies that you discovered you had been believing about yourselves. Can you just give a few of those? You said they’re in the book, but just give a few of those so some of us can go, oh, I didn’t realize that was a lie. Yeah, yeah.
Well, one of the things that I would say was probably the major lie was the lie of shame. And because of the trauma that I experienced, I had tremendous shame and guilt that I struggled with. And I thought that God was displeased with me. So for me, the first lie that got untangled was knowing that the father is pleased with me. He loves me and he wants me to come to him and have a relationship with him, not based on my performance, but just because I am His and I am loved. And as I’m walking with Him, the transformation will come, the change will come. I just need to come and not hide. Because I think the lie or the outworking of the lie of shame is that we hide ourselves.
We disconnect from God because we believe that there’s judgment. But the Bible says, perfect love casts out all fear. There’s no fear of judgment when you know how much you are loved. And Romans 8 once is that, you know, there’s no condemnation for those who are in Christ. So we don’t have to feel shame and condemnation. We can come as we are and be loved by God. So that was the major lie. But, you know, I had big lies around physical appearance and the value that I put on physical appearance.
So I believe that I wasn’t beautiful. I believed that I wasn’t good enough. I believed that my voice didn’t matter. I had somebody, when I was young, I attended a youth camp and one of the boys came and sat with me, bless him, he probably meant it in a good way, but he said to me, you know, I was asking God how he could ever use someone who was so quiet and shy like you. But I know he didn’t mean it in a mean way. But you received it. This is the deal. We received it. I received it to go, God can’t use me.
We make up stories, this is the deal, we make up stories and put them in the back of our head and forget that we made the story up about what somebody said or did or something that happened. We make a story up about it, I’m not good enough or see I told you I was, in the rest of your life you’re proving to yourself, see I told you I was stupid, see I told you I was stupid, see I, you know, you made a bad grade and so you made a story, you know, and for the rest of your life you’re self-fulfilling prophecy yourself, you know, you’re telling you’re the same lie over and over again until you believe it. And then it becomes who you are.
And God, you know, if God is love, he can’t be not love. And this is something I don’t believe in our fundamental religions. we were really taught that much. We were taught there’s a condemning God. Well, that is not true in my experience and estimation that, you know, you can be, God is love. He loves His creation. He loves every single, every single solitary person on the face of the earth, whether they’re a murderer or a saint, right? You know, so there’s no If he is love, he can’t be not love. And if we can just open ourselves to receive it, you know, there’s nothing you can do to make him love you more or less. God is love. He can’t be not love. He is love. Love is the answer, you know, hear that song, but truly most people I know have never received that unconditional love as you were speaking of earlier.
So when we can receive that and know that you know, we, I kind of think we create our own hell on earth, right? Just by doing, we make bad choices, but that doesn’t have anything to do with His love for us. And so there’s, this is nothing, this is stuff I say all the time in this show. And I, you know, because it’s who I am, faith, right? It’s not religion. I don’t, I don’t really care much for religion. Religion is God in a box and man-made rules and regulations in my world. So I’m like, but just unconditional love of God is a good thing. And we want to look at receiving that and it sounds like you have created a lot of tools. Let’s spell your name, Meliza Farndell.
So that’s M-E-L-I-Z-A- F-A-R-N-D-E-L-L . com.
And then you’ve got your paper crowns. I love that you chose to expand on that, the paper crowns. Publishing great paper. What is that other website? Yes, it’s Paper Crown Media. Yes, dot-com, yes, and so you have those two different resources, which include workbooks. You’ve got to let’s share a little bit about all the things that you have to offer, and it’s there. There’s a lot you’ve really come a long way once that moment that you’re, hey, I’m okay. In fact, I’m great. I’m good. God loves me. And all that stuff is history.
Yeah. It’s beautiful, the thing that happens when you really open your heart to be loved by God, because you do discover your unique expression of His heart. You have a unique identity in Him. You are special. You are an expression of His heart. I started to figure out or to see how what he’s called me to do and how he’s called me to share this message. So I started writing. So I’ve got books, nonfiction books, as well as children’s books. I love creating children’s resources because I think you cannot teach a child young enough about their identity and how much they are loved by God. So that is one of my life’s missions. So I’ve got the adult books, children’s books, I’ve got Bible reading plans on the YouVersion Bible app. So there’s stuff for kids and there’s stuff for adults. And then I have resources for writers as well. So I’ve got a blog, I’ve got the podcast. I really do. I’ve just expanded in all sorts of directions.
But really for anybody who’s listening and going, oh, I want to figure that out. My advice to you is just sit on your father’s lap and allow him to love you. You’re going to be amazed at the creativity and the Just the powerful stuff that he’s going to show you and share with you, because he is so good. And his heart is to reach all of the other kids out there who are struggling with their identity too and their purpose.
Yeah, well, you’ve got facebook groups. You’ve got youtube you’re on youtube at paper crown media and facebook groups, paper crown media.com. Oh, you’ve got a free workbook people can grab, and that is that workbook, mostly for people who want to write a book, or is that too? Does it kind of cross? both of your
Yeah, so there are two different links. There is one that shares a chapter from the Paper Crowns book, which is a little bit about my story and it’s called Untangled from Doubt. So if you’re struggling with doubt, that’s going to be a great chapter for you to read, and you can download that for free. And then there is a resource that I share with writers. So it’ll give you the first three foundational steps that you need to take. Really, it’s about helping you clarify your identity, your purpose, and your calling as an author or as a writer, so that you can get confident in what you are bringing to the table, and you can start connecting with the people that you are called to serve. So that is the workbook for the writers.
So both of those can be found on papercrownmedia.com, one with Paper Crown’s free chapter and one with First Steps, yeah. So that’s papercrownmedia.com, First Steps. So you’ve gotten, I’m very impressed. How long ago was this moment where you got free? And began getting the idea of building this Yeah. This legacy that you’re building.
I started, well I had my encounter in 2010, it was September 2010, but it took me nearly a decade to find the confidence to share my story because I was full of fear and just, I’m a different person today, like I would not be able to have a conversation on video. The Lord was so patient with me. He took me step by step and connected me with the right people as well to help me find my voice, find my confidence and start sharing my message. And so I’ve been on the journey for a while. It took me a while to get untangled, and then to find the courage to actually share about that process as well.
It’s like, I don’t even recognize that person anymore, right? That you I mean, who was that? I have, I have a situation like that, too. You know, it’s like, who, who was that person? I, you know, I was, I was kind of deceitful as until a certain moment in time. And all of a sudden, I’m like, That’s not me. I can’t even imagine that. But growing up, you do what you got to do to protect yourself. You don’t realize that it’s a lie, but you build all these lies to protect yourself. So thank you. I love the stories about, you know,
You’re sitting in a movie theater with your three-year-old and finding God. I mean, that just seems so just, you know, it’s just beautiful because nothing is the same for everybody. We all get… And when we become a little… as a child, you know, just becoming curious and getting on that lap and just being still and know that’s why that breathing exercise, 22 seconds, few times a day would be helpful. You know, 22 minutes in the morning, every morning would be life changing, I believe. So, and so just because I am a Gonna take a little, what I call a mini moment. We’re gonna talk about my little favorite health thing. If you’ve got inflammation, if you’ve got pain, joint pain or anything like that, I’ve got charlaanderson.com/Zinzino, but please just reach out to me, charlaanderson.com
And our charla, charlaanderson.com, my email, let’s talk because we’ve got an amazing product and we’re gonna show a little clip of that. And so I’ve got Zinzino and Texit. These are my two things that have attracted in the last few months this year. And there’s a health and wealth, health and wealth. So let’s take a little break and we’ll be right back and have more with Meliza. Welcome back. Hey, we’re going to get back into this story here charlaanderson.com/Zinzino and uh for that Charlaanderson.com charla

charlaanderson.com I said that enough times anyway, um You know, this is a it’s new to me at new for me to be adding these little These little spots in here. So it’s a learning curve. It’s all good but um So by the way, I’ll just say Texacoin, because that’s not going to be a spot. Texacoin, go out and find that. It’s on two or three exchanges now. And it’s doubling almost every month. And if you want to get a crypto, that is working. And if you want to become a miner, let’s talk. There’s a massive opportunity.
Charla Anderson. Okay, so back to Meliza here. Thank you for your patience and going through that and we’ll be… We want to talk, before the show we were talking about actually the process of printing books and doing some of that and sadly you’ve experienced and I’ve experienced bad publishers. Some are, they call themselves Christians. There’s a lot of, the reason the word Christian has deflected so many people from God’s love because human beings have used that word in a bad way. And so there are a lot of publishers out there that are not reputable that are going to overcharge that you know, do over promise and under deliver at the very least. You’ve had that experience. I’ve had that experience.
Many of my friends have had that experience. And I don’t recommend the publisher that’s on on my books, just saying. So, reach out to me if you want, or Meliza, certainly. She’s got a strategy to do just that because she was hurt as well. So, let’s go there. Let’s go there. Sure.
Okay.
Well, that’s one of the reasons why I wrote my book, Answering the Call to Write, and it’s a book I give away for free if you join my Facebook group. And if you’re not on Facebook and you really want this book, just send me an email to info at papercrownmedia.com and I will send you a PDF copy of the book. I wrote about everything I wish I knew before I wrote and published my book. The biggest problem is when you are setting out to do this, you’ve got that sense of God’s calling on your heart. You know you’ve got a message that’s going to help people. So you want to do the best you can, but you may not know what is the best route to go. And because you don’t know, it’s easy to make the wrong choice. And that’s what I did.
I did it twice. So in my book, I just set out some of the things you want to think about. before you write your story and before you choose a publishing option or a publisher. What are some of the things you need to look out for? What are the questions you need to ask? What should you think about? What is a reasonable budget to expect when you start writing a book? Because this call will come with a cost. It comes with a cost. And when you’re setting out, when you’re doing this for the first time, the cost is going to weigh more than the return on your investment for a period of time, especially if you’re not well known and you don’t have a big platform, which shouldn’t disqualify you from what God calls you to do. So my heart really is to help those people who say, I need to make my paper crown for Jesus.
I want to share my story, I want to share my light, but I just don’t know where to start. So, yeah, so please reach out to me. I will send you that book for free. There’s no strings attached, or you can join the Answering the Call to Write Facebook group. It’s in there, in the guides, in the files, right there for you. Because I don’t want people to have such a bad experience. The thing is, you carry this message on the inside of you for such a long time. You invest, you pour your heart and soul into writing that book. You should have a good experience, right, when you go through publishing. It’s hard enough to say yes to that call, to step up, to get out of your comfort zone, to share your story. You want to make sure that you’re partnering with the right people. So use wisdom, ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in your decision making, and get some knowledge, get some information before you start.
I would love to have had that before I started when I published my first tiny book, Candy Bar Hugs, self-published by myself in the midst of massive chaos in my life. Candy Bar Hugs, it doesn’t take much to make a difference. And it’s available on Amazon. I self-published it. But then I went with a publisher and republished it or released it as a five-year. um anniversary edition and Then my split second transformation change of words change your life daily 31 daily practices because every word matters um, so those are on amazon And I want to republish them with a different publisher or self-publish Do you actually do the publishing or do you and do you do are you the hybrid? You know where you just help the the author
So we do options for people. We have membership. So we teach and train people and mentor them so they can do it themselves. They can publish themselves. We give them everything they need to know. And then we also accept applications for people who want to publish with Paper Crown Publishing. So we do have a publishing arm. It is like a hybrid. So we do charge a fee for editing, formatting, cover design, and all of that stuff that’s part of the publishing process. Members get a 25% discount on all the publishing fees. We take zero royalties. So you get all of the royalties and we set it up so that it goes directly to you.
It doesn’t come through us. You’ve got 100% copyright. We don’t own your manuscript at all because we want to give you the freedom to do what’s best for you with the help of the Holy Spirit, which is a big thing that we focus on. And another thing we love to do is to help you start promoting that book even before you publish it. So start to build that connection. We focus heavily on the marketing aspect from the get-go because the important thing is that that book doesn’t just get written and published, but it actually gets into the hands of the people who are sitting in the pit of despair. Who needs your message? So yeah, so we do everything from writing to publishing to promoting.
So that’s very refreshing. I love that you’re not taking the copyrights. Traditional publishing, and a lot of people don’t know a lot of this stuff, and I certainly didn’t and don’t know much. But a traditional publisher, the big house publishers, they have a lot of high level requirements as well as keeping your copyright. So if it became a movie, for instance, that would be theirs. So your work isn’t yours and I’m not okay with that.
You also lose a lot of control over the creative process and the content of the book because traditional publishers, it’s all about money in the end. They need to know that they can get a return on their investment in you. So you need to be able to prove that you have a big audience that’s ready to buy the book, that you’ve got a marketing plan. And, you know, from my encounter with God,
But being that little girl making the paper crowns, I knew he was calling me to help ordinary people who didn’t have a platform. They don’t have big numbers of people, but they need to share their story because someone needs to see that light. And that’s the person that I really am passionate about helping. The one who doesn’t have the big platform yet.
Oh, so, so excited to have you here. I think that this is a, you know, a God thing. Of course, I always do. But it’s, you know, you’ve been there, done that. You’ve got the experience. You’ve got the technique. You’ve worked out the kinks. You’ve got the floor plan, you know, the outline. So that is awesome. papercrownmedia.com, and you can find all the other stuff there. And the Facebook group is answering the call to write. That is their Facebook group and a podcast, I think, as well. So wow, we’ve got a lot here. You’ve done a lot, and you are a light. You are the shining light. You have it glow. You do that. Well and uh, what’s what’s next? How is it? How is this going for you?
Are you finding our power people finding you besides are they just searching for publishers or Um, i’m not so good with my seo and getting found randomly, but I do a lot in my Facebook group with just helping people from day to day, so I run workshops from time to time that people can come to and attend free, so We just finished last week the Born to Write Blueprint, so I help people map out their storylines, get them going. So the best way is to just connect with me on Facebook. getting to the Facebook group, you’re going to see a lot of stuff that we do there. And we have an awesome community of people who love helping other authors too, because they’ve also been in the same boat, you know, struggling through it all. So it’s an amazing community.
Yeah, the easiest part is writing the book. I mean telling your story just you know If you choose to when you make that decision that you’re going to do that and you put pen to paper and push you know the story flows and the rest is what you’re you’re guided guiding everybody through so that’s Yeah, so I I’ve got my third book that I need to get done and I really want to work through what’s gone wrong with my others, so You know, I’m gonna get your free, what’s it called? The free… Yeah, it’s also called Answering the Call to Write. Okay, yeah, just getting your template are the first three steps. Yes, yeah. That’s awesome.
Yeah, that’s the workbook.
And are your kids inspired by your, what are they, how are they making it through the Mama Biena? published author?
I don’t know if you can impress a teenager, but my daughter loves drawing so she has actually illustrated some of my children’s books and it was so much fun working with her on the project. You know, I actually teach them a lot through Untangled as well or through the movie Tangled. So, we’ve talked about that experience because, you know, understanding how the lies of the enemy can mess with your heart and your identity is such a powerful thing. So, I found that really useful having a Disney movie to help them understand some of these spiritual concepts. So that’s been really helpful too. So they know mom is all about the movie Tangled. And yeah, I wrote a children’s series specifically for them.
I was journaling, I was praying for them. They were going through some tough stuff at school. And I wanted them to know that they are not at the mercy of their circumstances, that they had the power to choose. how to respond, how to speak, how to think, and how to be present in their relationships, in their friendships. So, as I was journaling one evening, God gave me this just incredible story, so I jotted it down in my journal, and that turned into a children’s book, which then turned into a little series. So, yeah, they’re very much involved. in what I’m doing, but I’m not sure if you can embrace a teenager.
Well, but but you are obviously been by when you have a common project, she’s working y’all working together on a common project. I think that that’s as golden as you can get and being enthused about it. And I’m going to look for your children’s books because I’m teaching my little grandbaby. She’s got her affirmation. She’s three and a half. She’s like, I am happy. I’m strong. I’m smart. And I am trustworthy. I added that a while back. And now I have integrity. I’m trying to add those. But she has to go. to see her, you know, her dad, and she hates it. I mean, she screams, you know, she just hates it. And it’s horrible to have to witness that, right?
And I’m giving, I’m trying to give her tools. And she really watched me intently one day when I was talking about it. I was like, you have a choice. You have a choice. to be upset, you may not have a choice to be where you are, but you have a choice if you’re going to be upset about it, or if you can make the best of it, or if you can be happy, you know, make yourself happy, you can breathe, you can think. of different things and, you know, and we’ve got, I give her all kinds of tools. So yeah, I hope that it overall will help.
Yeah, it’s such a gift that she has you, Charla, to be that voice of truth. And yeah, I know that that’s going to impact. I think sometimes we talk to our children and we’re not quite sure whether it lands, but it is, it’s a seed that you are planting that will reap a harvest. So, yeah, I love that you are that for her, that voice for her.
Well, thank you. She’s the light of my life right now. I haven’t seen her in a little bit, but really, you know, Every word matters. I mean, I believe that we’ve got to change our self-talk, which is, you know, what, oh, this is, I talk about this a lot now, whatever, you know, we, the words I am, I probably say this almost every show, sometimes I work it in, but whatever you say after I am is who you are. And when you, We belittle ourselves, we curse ourselves with saying, I’m so sick, I’m so tired, I’m so stupid, or whatever it is. We continue to call on ourselves. But you should never say something after the words, I am, that you wouldn’t say about God, because the I am is the God in you.
And it’s a huge message. Absolutely. And I love that you mentioned that because in my book, Entangled, it ends, every chapter is an affirmation because that’s who God sees you are. You are loved. You are chosen. You are celebrated. You are powerful. So I’ve written that book from the father’s perspective, but it has a list of affirmations at the end that you can speak over yourself. It’s so important. So I love that message that you are carrying.
And it’s it’s it’s a big message and we’ve got to uh, we want to understand it. Um, so we’re gonna close it’s times so fast every week And uh charla anderson show please come back and go to youtube and like and subscribe I really really I don’t ask that very often, but I really need to I want we need you know I’m not a i’m not a numbers person. I don’t i’ve never really cared but it matters to get our words outright. So I’m going to end by reading this that you shared. And it is, we have become his poetry, a recreated people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us. For we are joined to Jesus, the anointed one, even before we were born. God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it. Ephesians 2.10, the Passion Translation,
I believe. So we are He planned our destiny in advance, and we get to take the next right step, take a step of action. If you don’t know, if you don’t love yourself, but if you can take a breath, you have been provided for. If you can take a breath, you’ve been provided for. And if you don’t like where you are, you can take it. Take a different step. You can’t change how you got here, but you can change where you’re going. And that’s a message that is worth sharing. So thank you so, so much for joining me, Meliza. I love you. I think you’re just a delight and looking so much forward to getting this show out and sharing our words.
Thank you for having me, Charla. It’s amazing.
