Charla’s Podcast Review & Gift Ideas
It’s a good, beautiful day, you beautiful souls. This is Charla Anderson, host of The Charla Anderson Show, collector and connector of fascinating people, and everyone is fascinating, especially YOU! I'm so grateful that you joined us here on the show. We're getting started a bit late. I am so thrilled that you would take the time to join me or join us as we have this amazing platform with Win Win Women, Podetize, and my partners. It’s International Women's Day. A lot of things are going on in our world. I'm so thrilled that you would take your time to join me and read. It's going to be fun. It's just me, no guest.
This is important to me that every single week, and this is week number 40 and my 40th episode, I always do the breathing exercise. It’s this little mini vacation that takes 22 seconds to ground us. Sometimes, I hold a rock, a crystal, or something in my hand as well to keep us grounded. Our electronics are keeping us less grounded than we probably ought to be. Often, I don't think we get out and walk around barefoot much or hug trees. Who knows?
Let’s take 7 seconds to breathe and calm, hold for 4 seconds, and then breathe out gratitude. Are you ready? Here we go. Breathe in your calm for seven seconds. Hold and release. Thank you. Let's do that more than one time a day. Let's keep focused on what we need, what we want, and how to stay grounded because every word matters. I launched Split Second Transformation: Change Your Words, Change Your Life: 31 Daily Practices. It’s a small, powerful book. There are 31 tiny chapters to remind you that every word matters. It's available on Amazon and anywhere books are sold pretty much. It's on Kindle. Eventually, I'll get it out on Audible. Won't that be fun?
Every word matters. Speak what you want, not what you don't want. Speak life, not death. Speak health and wellness, not dis-ease. Don't walk for a dis-ease. Walk for the wellness that you want from that dis-ease. See yourself feeling healthy. Watch that visualization. Every word matters and every thought matters. You can train yourself. You can get in the old habit of like, “That's the way I am.” You don't have to be, but you can choose that.
Meaning Of Charla
Without having a special guest on, I get to do what I do. My name means to chat in Spanish. It means joy in Greek. That's who I am and that's what I like to do. I love having the opportunity, this weekly time to join those of you. It goes out on podcasts with Podetize. It's on Podetize globally. I'd love your input. March 1st, 2024 will be one year of being on WinWinWomen.tv, Roku, and Apple TV streaming all those services. I'm going to have a celebration event for International Women's Day, which is March 8th, 2024, but I'm going to have mine on March 1st, 2024. We're going to have speakers and a great event.
There are going to be 50 events around the country for that and around the globe in 2024 promoting Win Win Women, International Women's Day, and Women's Global Alliance. There are a lot of things that we're open and excited about collaborating globally to make sure every person on the earth, every woman especially, has the tools that they need to present and have what they need, the education they need, and the questions they have. We want to collaborate. It's a huge thing.
My name means the chat in Spanish. It also means joy in Greek. When I heard that in 2012 when my pastor told me that my name is Joy and was a derivative of joy in Greek, I was like, “I had a dog named Joy.” I had a split-second moment of transformation from bitterness to joy. My signature was, “Choose joy,” and everything about me, and then my name means that. I find that very intriguing.
I know my parents didn't know that. They were prophetic without knowing it. Names are important. I'm grateful that who I am is joy. Who I also am is bold faith and no fear. That's what I've said for many years. I wish I'd said it differently when I started because I don't even like the word no fear. Your subconscious doesn't hear that word. It’s outrageously courageous, bold faith, no fear. Step towards the gun, because I did. I had a gun to my head.
The reason this book matters, Split Second Transformation: Change Your Words, Change Your Life, is because who I say I am is bold faith and no fear, and I did for years. When a gun was at my head, I got to step towards the gun and say, “You need love,” and they ran, which is a story. The real story is that I had no fear around that because the words I say matter. What you say after the words I am is who you are. It's who you are in that moment. Every word matters. When I can prove that I have bold faith and no fear and I get an opportunity to step towards a gun at my head, I have no fear. I was shaken. I'm not saying there wasn't angst, but I wasn't scared. That is going to be the third book coming out in March 2024. I hope it’s March or spring 2024.
My Candy Bear Hugs, too. This was my book. I'm reviewing what I've done in the last few years, especially this 2023. The Candy Bear Hugs: It Doesn't Take Much to Make a Difference! is a tiny pay-it-forward book. Both of these, can you not imagine these being great stocking stuffers? They’re great gifts. They're on Amazon. You can get them quickly. Contact me if you want autographed copies or whatever.
When you love people without judgment, the harder they are to love, the more they need it, but that doesn't mean we don't love them. It is unconditional love and unconditional forgiveness, not unconditional boundaries. We must have boundaries. If God is love, he can't be not love. What I'm talking about here are messages I've been talking about from day one in my show, my books, my talks, and what I coach on. This is huge. If God is love, he can't be not love.
I guarantee you. Some of us have been taught that there's this menial God that's condemning us. It couldn't be further from the truth. He loves you if you're in the gutter or you're a murderer. He loves you if you're a saint. If God is love, he can't be not loving. Some people need to hear that and realize that there's nothing you can do to be loved more or less by God or even me. I'm me, but I believe that enough that it's my truth.
This is a very loose episode. I had a cancellation and I thought, “I'm going to regroup and think about where I've come from 2023.” Three years in a row, on the first week of January, I had gone to a little Airbnb in Paradise, Texas. I wanted to have some time to create my year. In the first two years, I don't think I did a very good job of it. This 2023, I spent a whole lot of time meditating and reconsidering that who I am is not only bold faith and no fear. Who I am is a queen.
The reason I can say that is interesting. A few years ago, I had a lady who was reading for me and saying, “It's time for you to dismiss the princess energy,” which I’ve always had. I want to be fun. Maybe I want a knight in shining armor. Maybe I want to have someone else be there with me, help me, or whatever. She said, “It's time to remove the princess energy and put on your crown and be a queen. Take that queen energy and use it and embellish it.”
One of our show hosts, Ashly Torian, I spoke at her events. She had a retreat that I went to. Her show is called Ashly's Heart Song. She guides on these retreats. Through her coaching, she guides you to create your heart song. Here's mine. I like to talk about the princess-to-queen energy because otherwise, the queen piece of this may not make sense.
I can show you the meme I made of it, the crown at the top. That’s my heart song. I will say it as the queen, regal and poised, savoring every breath of life. I am joy and peace with bold faith and confidence so that I fulfill my purpose of radiating light and love and raising the vibration of the earth or the world. This hits home personally for me because everybody's looking for their purpose.
In Candy Bear Hugs, I talk about how everybody's looking for their purpose. What if your purpose is how you treat the person right in front of you, how you take care of people in your world, or how you pick up a piece of trash? This is a huge thing to me. I'm amazed at how few people really get this. My mama said, “Leave things better than you found them.” What if you wipe up a sink and it did something for the next person?
Think about it. If you leave something for another human being to do or pick up, then you are part of the problem. Take if you have trash and put it away. Wipe it down, put it away, put the cart back, or clean the counters. Even in hotel rooms, you don't have to leave the biggest mess in the world. In public, wipe those sinks if you can if they don't have dryers in there. Leave the world a better place.
How will the next person who walks by your space through your energy going to feel? I want the maids after I've been in a hotel room to come in and go, “She left this place without much for us to have to do.” I want them to feel blessed. When you can do that and bless people, you are raising the vibration of the earth. You're blessing the next person that has to come in contact with you.
If you spill something, wipe it up. These are such basic things that we should have learned in kindergarten, but a lot of people didn't or don't. They're so self-centered. I heard something. It's very powerful. I believe it was Jordan Peterson. Amazing, thought-provoking conversations he has. He said that people who are so centered on themselves equal misery.
If you're offended by stuff, get over it. My sister on the show said, “Build a bridge and get over it.” Nobody cares. Who cares if you're offended? It's silly, dumb, and ridiculous. We don't want to be offensive. No one is generally intending to be offensive, but I don't know that you're offended by whatever you're offended by. Get over yourself. Raise up your consciousness enough. What I think of you doesn't have anything to do with you. What you think of me has nothing to do with me.
The spirit of offense that's going around in our society is pervasive and pathetic. It puts you in the victim mode and zero power. To me, you have to get over it. Build a bridge and get over it. Think about how you are contributing to the things you're not happy about and how you are contributing to serving others. Think about how you are contributing to our society and our world to make our world a better place for the next generation and the next person in front of us.
Candy Bar Hugs is about loving that person and offering a candy bar. Instead of paying it backward to the big bucks people behind you, offer a candy bar. I was offering a candy bar to the checkout clerks in the grocery store. I was like, “Do you mind if I give you a hug?” Many little stories came out about that. That's what that tiny book, Candy Bear Hugs, is about.
Your purpose is how you treat the next person. I know this is beating over and over again, but I feel that it's a lost art in some cases. If you're depressed, you're not feeling good, or you're self-focused, the best way out of that, and I'm not saying it's easy, is to take care of an animal, pick up a piece of trash, or take care of something outside of yourself. Perhaps start getting involved in something you have a passion for. It may be a park that needs to be cleaned up a little bit.
How often do you go outside and feel the fresh air? Get the God-given vitamin D that we have access to all day every day to get fresh air, walk barefoot, touchstones, and dig in the dirt. Take 5 or 10 minutes a day, please, to get grounded. I guarantee you. The sun is not going to hurt you. A few minutes in the sun is cleansing, clearing, and helpful. Perhaps they don't want us to be in the sun so they can sell us some sunscreens and sell us vitamin D pills. Think about it. I have a son. He has no sunscreen whatsoever. I'm the same way. I don't believe in it. I believe that those chemicals all over your body are not helping your body. There are many studies that you don't hear much about that.
My 40th Episode
This is my 40th episode. I've had some incredible people. There are a couple of things I've thought about for gifts. I want you to get my books for Christmas gifts, but I want to talk about a couple of other books you might take a look at that I gave my sisters when we had our gathering of the girls. Both of these ladies have been guests on my show. Although Cueva, bless her heart, her show didn't get recorded, so we'll be doing that one again. She's got Grief Without Chaos. She's an organizer and says, “Once you get your papers in order, you have such a relief. The rest of the things come along in order, too.”
It's a workbook to help you get through those pesky papers that are piled up everywhere. Who knows your wishes? If something happens to you, who has your passwords? How can you help the person next in line if someone comes behind you that has to clean up your mess? Most of us aren't going to be here forever. Who knows? I don't know. That’s Ann Cueva with Grief Without Chaos.
The second book is After the Flowers Die. I gave my sister both of these books. This one is almost like a coffee table book in a small version. This is an incredibly touching book for people who have gone through some of these things to add things in order when they left us. I can't imagine a better gift than to leave our children or the next person that has to come through our home or our place and start having those things in order. I would highly recommend those. For the second one, I don't think I said the name of the author. It is Renee Leonard Kennedy. Those are things that would make great gifts. It doesn't have to be for Christmas, but it could be.
I've had 40 shows. The first six were me talking like I'm doing in this episode. My guests, many of them have died almost or come back and have such overcoming stories. We offer hope. When we hear stories about other people like that, it offers hope and grace. I'm so grateful for the guests that I’ve had and the ones that are coming. Next, we'll have Corina Curry following this. I'm looking forward to that. Debbie Adams and Kara Jean are coming. Donna Taylor from Without Walls Church and the Hope Center is coming. What a lineup I've had. I encourage you to go back and check it out. Go back and read some of these stories. Go back a little bit.
Realizations In January
I started talking about how this 2023, in January, I went to this Airbnb. I'll have to find a new one for January 2024 because fortunately for them, they had a little longer-term rental going on. It’s unfortunate for me because I love it and I'm going to look for another one. I want to spend a week and do a lot of introspection and meditation and think about where I am going. I went from princess to queen energy and started taking action on my own.
When intriguing opportunities present themselves and you say yes, things show up. This 2023, I've been saying, “Everything is always working out for me.” It really is because where I am is all I have. A lot of these things, you've heard multiple times if you pay attention to me at all. Everything is always working out for me and where I am right this second is all I have. I don't have last second, last week, or last generation. I can only do something about the next one or the next second. We can be in this present moment and go, “If I don't like where I am, I have the next second to take a different direction if I need to, but I can't change this one or the last one.”
Those are critically important things for us to understand because I don't think we were taught that. I certainly wasn't, or at least it didn't take in me that most of us are living in our past. Most of us are thinking about our future. Michael Singer is like, “There are billions of years and billions of people over those billions of years. This is the one moment that we have in this lifetime. It’s a speck out of the billions, probably a pen prick if you look at it.” We get upset so easily over things that matter so little, so let's relax, release, let go, and breathe. Love this moment because it's all we have. It's the only place we have to take the next step.
If you consider some of these things that are profoundly important, if we're going to live a life of joy, fun, ease, and service to others and giving, we want that, don't we? Don't you want that? I do. I want others to have that. I feel like most of my day and most of my week, I'm walking in complete peace. I don't let things bother me very much. It doesn't mean I have a perfect life. There's a lot around me that's very chaotic, but in my heart, my spirit lives in peace because I know that where I am is all I have. I might as well love it.
I get to choose joy and get to speak what I want. I have some amazing support and friends. When intriguing opportunities present themselves and you say yes, things show up. I'm telling you. They do. In January 2023, I ended up having a phone call and finding I had a TV show. Isn’t that interesting? I got my books published with Beyond Publishing, the publisher. Both books have become international best-sellers. I have Podetize. I am taking out loans for things that will move my business forward. I turned. It took a long time to get here, but it didn't feel like it.
I’m not stopping. I’m not quitting. I’m moving forward and moving on. I'm going to make a difference every step of the way everywhere I can. I hope that serves you as well. How can I make a difference for you? That's my question. What can I do to make a difference for you? That's how I live my life. How can I make a difference for the next person? It takes so much focus off of me. I broke my toe and it hurt, but I'm still favoring it. I don't focus on me very much. Think about that.
Over the years, and I don't toss this out but I was thinking about it, I've never colored my hair. I'm happy that it is dark and light, but I never really colored it. I've never been a girly girl that had to have my nails done. How much time and money do you think I've saved over the years? I wear very little cosmetics and stuff. How much time and money have I saved over the years? Probably a lot compared to what most people have done in this day and age. I like tidbits about me that don't matter, but it's a perspective. Always, perspective is important.
Plans For 2024
This year 2023, I had a TV show and two books that went best-sellers. I'm in two other compilation books. The secret is coming out. I'm going to be in a huge big deal compilation book in 2024. It includes Les Brown. I’m excited about that. People are, for the first time in my life, reaching out to me and going, “I want you to talk to my son. I want to hear from you. I feel like you're the one that I need to listen to or get some guidance from.” All these white hairs or silver hairs, I gained them intentionally the very hard
Here we are. I'm going to go ahead and shut this show down. This is December 13th, 2023. I'm going to close the show out me talking. There is no point in rambling on. I wanted to regroup and know that 2023 has been phenomenal for me. I'm so thrilled. 2024 is going to be off the charts because I'm choosing to be the queen. I'm choosing to make a difference wherever I can. I'm choosing to love you no matter who and where you are. I'm choosing to lift the vibration of the world by radiating love and light. It's my choice. It's who I am. It's another thing that happened this 2023.
I made a really good friend. I always pick up people and collect people in ALDI. I have a new good friend that I've met at ALDI because I see that people are attracted to love and light. Be the best you can be. You're perfect exactly who and where you are. I love you. God loves you. When I say all that, it's not about religion. It's about the source. The creator of the universe loves you truly. As I end all my shows, I always end by saying, “Remember to always choose joy.” I’ll see you soon.
